A leading Top 10, 5-star housebuilder is looking to appoint a Strategic Land Manager to support the continued growth of their North East business. This is a key role focused on identifying, securing, and progressing strategic land opportunities through the planning system and ultimately delivering value to the wider business.
You will play a pivotal role across the full lifecycle of strategic land – from sourcing and acquisition through to planning promotion and disposal or internal handover for development.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and source new strategic land opportunities across the North East region
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, agents, and key stakeholders
- Negotiate and secure land through option and promotion agreements
- Manage sites through the planning promotion process, working closely with consultants and local authorities
- Coordinate technical, legal, and planning inputs to maximise site value
- Prepare and present land opportunities internally for approval
- Work collaboratively with the wider land, planning, and technical teams
- Facilitate the transfer of sites into the housebuilding business or manage disposals to external parties where appropriate
- Proven experience in strategic land, land acquisition, or planning within a housebuilder, developer, or consultancy
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and strategic land promotion
- Demonstrable experience negotiating land deals (options, promotion agreements, etc.)
- Commercially astute with strong appraisal and valuation awareness
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work autonomously
