A well-established, privately owned housebuilder based in Northampton is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join their technical team. This is a role with genuine people management responsibility. You'll line manage two Engineers and a Graduate Engineer, supporting their development while taking the lead on the technical delivery of the company's live sites. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants a step up into leadership without moving to a huge corporate structure, you'll have real influence over how the technical function runs day to day.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee engineering design and delivery across a portfolio of live sites
- Lead the preparation and negotiation of Section Agreements (S38, S104, S278) and manage sites through to adoption
- Line manage and mentor two Engineers and a Graduate Engineer, supporting their technical and professional development
- Review and approve technical design packages produced by external consultants
- Ensure all designs and site delivery comply with NHBC Standards and current Building Regulations
- Liaise directly with Local Authorities, Highway Authorities, and statutory undertakers
- Provide hands-on technical support to site teams to resolve issues during construction
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Solid experience as a Senior/Principal Engineer within residential housebuilding
- Strong working knowledge of Section Agreements and the adoption process
- Experience managing, mentoring, or supervising junior engineers
- Comfortable working within a smaller, privately owned business structure
Desirable:
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Experience with AutoCAD/Civils 3D
