Are you a senior development professional with deep expertise in cladding and fire remediation? This is a rare opportunity to lead from the front at one of the UK’s leading residential developers.

We are working with a market-leading residential developer based in Essex, seeking an experienced Head of Development to lead a specialist team delivering cladding and fire safety remediation works across a significant portfolio of completed residential and mixed-use schemes.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Managing Director for the business unit, you will take ownership of the remediation programme – overseeing all aspects from technical assessments through to project delivery and handover. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring full compliance with the Building Safety Act, delivering high-quality outcomes while managing risk and maintaining resident trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of internal and external stakeholders managing cladding and fire remediation projects.
  • Act as the technical authority on Building Safety Act compliance and remediation strategy.
  • Oversee the planning, procurement, and execution of works across multiple sites.
  • Engage with residents, consultants, contractors, and regulators throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor programme performance, budgets, and reporting for executive leadership.
  • Ensure all projects meet the latest building safety and regulatory standards.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Proven background in cladding and fire remediation, ideally within residential or mixed-use development.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Building Safety Act and current fire safety regulations.
  • Experience managing multi-site programmes with technical complexity and stakeholder sensitivity.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills – able to engage confidently at board level and with residents alike.
  • A background in construction, technical project management, building surveying or similar discipline.
