This is a role with a residential focused principal contractor in an established Building Safety team, focused purely on remediation across mid and high-rise residential buildings UK-wide. You'd be the technical fire authority across a national portfolio of re-cladding and remediation schemes, working with major housing associations and development clients on some of the most significant building safety programmes in the country.
What you’d actually be doing:
- Developing and reviewing fire strategies for buildings undergoing façade remediation.
- Leading the technical fire input into Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 submissions to the BSR.
- Assessing non-compliant cladding systems (ACM, HPL and others) and shaping the remediation approach, working to PAS 9980 and the wider HRB regime.
- Coordinating with design teams, contractors and specialist consultants.
- Liaising with Building Control and Fire & Rescue.
- Acting as the technical lead for site and pre-construction teams across various projects.
Who they’re after:
- A Chartered Fire Engineer (CEng MIFireE), or someone well on the way to it, with a solid grounding in residential high-rise.
- Remediation and re-cladding experience is essential.
- Genuine command of the Building Safety Act, Gateway and PAS 9980.
- Ability to write clear technical reports and engage with a range of stakeholders.
- Housing association/social landlord exposure is a plus.
- Ex-Fire Service or Building Control backgrounds are welcomed.
- Full UK driving licence, as there’s occasional travel.
