I'm delighted to be working with a residential-focused main contractor to recruit a Design Manager for South London, offering between £75,000 and £85,000 plus package. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fresh design team set-up and help grow the division from its early stages.
The Design Manager will work on mid to high-rise mixed residential blocks across the city, coordinating design delivery for a contractor establishing their design function. You'll need strong knowledge of high-rise building regulations, Building Safety Act requirements, and Gateway processes to succeed in this role.
Key Responsibilities:- Managing design coordination on mid to high-rise residential developments
- Leading Gateway 2 submissions and ensuring BSR compliance
- Coordinating architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and specialists
- Managing design programmes, RFI processes, and critical path activities
- Ensuring compliance with Building Safety Act 2022 and high-rise regulations
- Driving buildability reviews and value engineering initiatives
- Managing design risks and coordinating design information with site teams
- Building relationships with housing associations and developer clients
- Supporting establishment of design processes and standards
- Contributing to team growth and division development
- Working across South London and surrounding areas
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within residential main contracting
- Strong knowledge of high-rise building regulations (essential)
- Understanding of Building Safety Act 2022 and BSR requirements (essential)
- Experience with Gateway 2 submissions and regulatory compliance (essential)
- Background in mid to high-rise residential projects
- Excellent technical and communication skills
- Ability to work in start-up environment and help establish processes
