I am working with an established and growing residential developer who are seeking a land and planning assistant support the identification, assessment, and delivery of new development opportunities. This role offers a strong platform for progression within a collaborative and forward-thinking team, working across land acquisition, planning strategy, and development appraisal.
Job role:
The land & planning assistant will play a key supporting role in sourcing new land opportunities, managing planning processes, and assisting with development feasibility work. The ideal candidate will bring a solid grounding in land buying, town planning, or development surveying, and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Help find and assess potential development sites.
- Carry out basic planning checks and review any constraints.
- Assist with financial appraisals and viability work.
- Support the preparation and coordination of planning applications.
- Keep databases, mapping systems, and site pipelines up to date.
- Communicate with landowners, agents, consultants, and local authorities.
- Prepare reports and presentations to support internal decisions.
- Assist with negotiations and due diligence on land deals.
- Keep track of local planning activity, policy changes, and market trends.
Skills & Experience required:
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g., planning, real estate, development, geography, urban studies).
- Minimum of 2 years\β relevant experience in one of the following areas:
- Land buying / land acquisition
- Planning consultancy or local authority planning
- Development surveying
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret planning policy and technical reports.
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in residential development.
