I'm recruiting on behalf of a well-respected national 5-star housebuilder with an impressive reputation for quality, employee retention, and consistent growth across the South. Due to an expanding workload, they are now looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to support multiple developments across Dorset, Hampshire, and Berkshire. This role offers a blend of office-based commercial management and site support, overseeing low-rise, traditionally built housing schemes typically ranging from 50 to 500 units. Projects consist primarily of 2-5 bedroom houses and low-rise apartment blocks, delivered using traditional masonry construction.
The Role: As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for the full commercial management of residential projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working alongside a well-structured commercial team, you'll have the autonomy to manage your own sites while receiving support from a highly experienced Senior QS and Commercial Director.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and management of CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations)
- Procurement of subcontractors, materials, and services
- Issuing and managing subcontract orders and payment schedules
- Measuring and valuing works, both on-site and from drawings
- Managing monthly valuations, payment notices, and final accounts
- Monitoring budgetary control, cost reporting, and forecasting
- Working closely with site teams to monitor progress and variation works
- Ensuring compliance with company financial procedures and NHBC/build regs.
The Ideal Candidate: This opportunity suits someone with experience in volume residential housebuilding, whether currently in a developer or main contractor environment. You'll ideally have a good understanding of the full project lifecycle from land handover through to post-completion.
- We're looking for:
- Previous experience working on multi-unit housing schemes
- Knowledge of COINS is preferred, though experience with other estimating/finance platforms will be considered
- Strong understanding of contracts.
- Confident in dealing with subcontractors and internal teams
- Organised, commercially astute, and proactive in managing multiple workstreams
