A fast-growing residential developer with an ambitious pipeline of new sites across the North is looking for a technically strong, hands-on Technical Manager to join at a pivotal moment in their expansion. The Role
- You'll take ownership of the technical function across a portfolio of four to five live residential schemes simultaneously, driving engineering delivery from pre-acquisition through to planning consent and beyond.
- Reviewing and signing off engineering drawings to ensure technical accuracy, buildability, and compliance.
- Collaborating closely with the architectural team on scheme design development and coordination.
- Supporting the planning team with technical inputs into planning applications — drainage strategies, transport statements, infrastructure briefs.
- Working with the land acquisition team both pre and post-acquisition to assess technical risk, constraints, and feasibility on prospective sites.
- Managing external consultants — civils engineers, drainage specialists, infrastructure designers — to programme and budget.
- Coordinating technical due diligence and condition discharge across the project lifecycle.
What We're Looking For
- You'll be an experienced technical professional ready to make the move from Technical Coordinator into a management role — or already operating at Technical Manager level and looking for an employer who will give you the autonomy and trust to do your best work.
- Essential: 6–7 years' post-graduate experience in a technical role within residential development or housebuilding.
- Strong engineering knowledge and the ability to read, interrogate, and sign off civil and infrastructure drawings.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Confident working across land, planning, and design teams.
Background:
- A degree in Civil Engineering is the preference — but candidates with an architectural background and a very strong leaning into engineering and infrastructure are equally welcome.
