Our client are seeking Electrical Improvers to join them on a permanent basis. They deliver medium to large multi-discipline projects focused on the installation of equipment and plant systems for the water industry throughout West Sussex. These roles will support qualified electricians on-site to ensure that installation works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Location: Guildford
Pay: £17-£20 per hour.
Purpose: Assist in the delivery of electrical installation activities, supporting tasks such as cable routing, containment installation, equipment mounting, and general site preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment across various client sites.
- Support the identification and rectification of basic electrical issues under supervision.
- Carry out electrical construction and installation tasks in line with company standards and project requirements.
- Follow all instructions relating to electrical control works while maintaining safe working practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical regulations, site procedures, and health and safety protocols.
- Assist with cable pulling, containment installation (tray, ladder, conduit), and general site electrical works.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to a high standard.
- Support the completion of documentation, including permits, site records, and installation checklists.
Skills / Experience / Qualifications:
- Basic electrical knowledge with at least 2-3 years of experience as an electrical mate/improver.
- NVQ Level 2 or progression towards NVQ Level 3 (preferred but not essential).
- Understanding of safe systems of work and general health & safety requirements.
- Ability to follow technical instruction and work effectively within a team.
- Experience working on water or wastewater industry sites is advantageous but not essential.
- Full UK driving license required.
