Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced
Shift Leader
to join a high-profile facilities and engineering operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the shift team and ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the building's mechanical and electrical services. This role would suit an experienced engineer or supervisor with a strong building services background who is confident leading a team and managing day-to-day operational requirements within a critical or high-profile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the engineering team during the shift. Ensure all mechanical and electrical building services operate safely and efficiently. Carry out regular inspections and monitor plant and equipment performance. Respond to and manage reactive maintenance issues and breakdowns. Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) is completed to the required standards. Coordinate contractors and specialist service providers when required. Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and respond appropriately to alarms and faults. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, defects and incidents. Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures. Take responsibility for the site during the shift and escalate significant issues appropriately. Support the management team with engineering and facilities-related requirements. Assist with emergency procedures and ensure appropriate actions are taken during incidents. Provide technical guidance and support to engineers on shift. Ensure compliance with relevant statutory, regulatory and company requirements.
Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate is likely to have:
Previous experience in a
Shift Leader, Lead Engineer, Senior Engineer or Engineering Supervisor
position. Strong knowledge of
mechanical and electrical building services . Experience working within commercial buildings, facilities management or a similar environment. Good understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance. Experience supervising or leading engineering teams. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of health and safety requirements. Relevant engineering qualifications or apprenticeship background. Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions independently. Strong communication and organisational skills.
Working Pattern
This is a
continental shift position , requiring flexibility to work a combination of days and nights in accordance with the agreed shift rota.
Salary
£50,300 per annum , plus any applicable benefits and allowances.
