Shift Lead – Building Services (Mechanical Bias)

Are you an experienced building services leader looking for your next move? Our client, a leading building services company, is seeking a Shift Lead with a mechanical bias to join their high‑performing team in Central London. As a key member of the onsite engineering team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all building services systems across a landmark commercial property. You’ll oversee shift engineers, coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, and act as the technical authority on mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of multi‑skilled shift engineers to ensure all building services are maintained to the highest standard.
- Oversee PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) and reactive works across HVAC, plumbing, pumps, AHUs, and associated mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with all site safety procedures, statutory requirements, and company policies.
- Liaise with the Facilities Management team and external contractors to deliver efficient maintenance and repair solutions.
- Provide hands‑on technical support when required, with a focus on mechanical systems.
- Complete all shift reporting, handovers, and documentation accurately and on time.
About You
- Recognised mechanical or building services qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems within commercial buildings.
- Proven experience in a critical or commercial building environment, ideally within a shift‑based team.
- Confident in leading and motivating a team of engineers.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills.
