Workshop Technician in Keynsham

Job Summary TD Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Workshop Technician / Plant Fitter to join an established plant and tool hire company based in Keynsham, Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys working with their hands, diagnosing faults and repairing equipment. Working within a busy plant hire depot, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of plant and hire equipment, ensuring machinery is safe, reliable and ready for use. We're looking for someone who is mechanically minded, takes pride in their work and can confidently carry out repairs and maintenance with minimal supervision. Duties and Responsibilities * Inspect, service, maintain and repair plant machinery, tools and hire equipment. * Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise equipment downtime. * Prepare and inspect equipment before it is released for hire or returned to service. * Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance and general workshop repairs. * Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively. * Identify worn, damaged or faulty components and carry out necessary repairs or replacements. * Assist with mechanical assembly and equipment maintenance where required. * Carry out basic fabrication, welding or electrical repairs where appropriately skilled. * Ensure all equipment meets relevant safety and operational standards. * Maintain accurate records of servicing, inspections and repairs. * Work closely with colleagues to prioritise repairs and keep equipment available for customers. * Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment. Experience and Requirements Essential: * Previous hands-on experience in mechanical repairs, plant maintenance, workshop fitting or a similar mechanical role. * Good practical mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability. * Confident using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment. * Ability to inspect, maintain and repair mechanical equipment safely. * A reliable, organised approach with good attention to detail. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Desirable: * Previous experience within plant hire, tool hire, construction equipment or a similar industry. * Experience servicing and repairing small plant machinery or construction equipment. * Knowledge of engines, hydraulic systems and mechanical components. * Basic electrical fault-finding experience. * Welding or fabrication skills. * Relevant mechanical engineering or plant maintenance qualifications.
