The Director - Compliance Technology (User Experience & Front-End Architecture) is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and delivering the enterprise user experience strategy across Compliance, Surveillance, and Supervision platforms. This role operates as a horizontal technology leader, driving standardization, reusability, and consistency of front-end frameworks and user experience across multiple compliance workstreams. The Director partners with business, compliance, and engineering stakeholders to ensure UI platforms are scalable, intuitive, compliant, and aligned with regulatory expectations, while enabling efficient delivery across distributed teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- UI Platform Strategy & Horizontal Leadership: Define and execute the enterprise front-end/UI strategy across Compliance Technology platforms. Establish shared UI frameworks, design systems, and reusable components used across all delivery workstreams. Act as the horizontal lead for UI engineering, ensuring consistency in user experience (UX), accessibility standards, design patterns, and performance benchmarks. Drive alignment between product teams, architecture, and engineering to enforce UI standards at scale.
- Architecture & Engineering Oversight: Provide technical leadership for modern front-end architectures (e.g., micro-frontend, SPA frameworks, API-driven UI). Ensure seamless integration of front-end platforms with back-end services, vendor products, and data platforms. Establish and enforce secure, scalable, and compliant UI design patterns, aligned with enterprise architecture standards. Review solution designs to ensure adherence to security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Cross Functional Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Compliance, Surveillance, & AML stakeholders and product owners to translate regulatory and operational requirements into UI solutions. Influence roadmap prioritization to ensure high-value user journeys and regulatory workflows are optimized.
- Regulatory & Control Alignment: Ensure all UI platforms support auditability and traceability, workflow controls and user entitlements, and regulatory reporting and evidencing. Embed controls-by-design principles into UI development to support compliance obligations. Stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends impacting compliance systems.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., advanced visualization, AI-assisted UX, low-code UI platforms). Drive continuous improvement in developer productivity, UI performance and responsiveness, and user adoption and usability. Promote an Agile, product-centric engineering culture across teams.
Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of technology leadership experience, financial services an advantage.
- Strong experience in front-end technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript, modern UI frameworks).
- Expertise in enterprise UI architecture (SPA, micro-frontends, API-first design).

- Understanding of data-driven UI and real-time visualization for compliance/surveillance use cases.
- Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-functional technology programs.
- Demonstrated ability to define and enforce engineering standards across multiple teams.
- Experience operating in regulatory driven programs with high expectations for auditability, traceability, and sustainability.
- Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex data and technology risks to senior stakeholders and regulators.
