The main activities the Project Assistant will undertake are listed below. These are temporary roles for 3 months working from mid-March to mid-June 2026. To fulfil the role, you must be resident in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Help to grow vegetable plants, including planting, care and watering.
- Help to construct wooden planters for the Acorn Farm I Can Grow project.
- Deliver compost and planters to Acorn Farm participants across the Derry City Council area.
- Help to deliver Horticulture Training courses to garden owners and the general public.
- Help to promote the project.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Applicants should ideally have relevant experience in horticulture and growing plants or vegetables.
- Experience of working with volunteers and the public is also helpful.
- The delivery work involves van driving and significant manual handling.
- A full, clean or near clean UK driving licence is required for this post, which has been held for a minimum of one year.
