The Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Utilities Markets expertise to bridge business requirements and technology solutions within the energy and utilities sector.
The ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of electricity and gas markets, market operations, regulatory frameworks, trading processes, and utility business functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from utility stakeholders.
- Work closely with business users, product owners, and technical teams to translate requirements into functional specifications.
- Conduct gap analysis, process mapping, and impact assessment for market-related initiatives.
- Support implementation and enhancement of utility market systems and processes.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder discussions, and requirement elicitation sessions.
- Create BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, and test scenarios.
- Collaborate with QA teams for UAT planning, execution, and defect resolution.
- Ensure compliance with utility industry regulations, market rules, and governance standards.
- Support change management activities and business process improvements.

- Knowledge of energy trading lifecycle and settlement processes.
- Understanding of market participants including Suppliers, Generators, Traders, DNOs/DSOs, TSOs, and Regulators.
- Experience working with utility market platforms and regulatory frameworks.

- Expertise in requirement gathering and stakeholder management.
- Process modelling using BPMN, Visio, Lucid chart, or similar tools.
- Agile/Scrum methodology experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure Dev Ops, or equivalent tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in UK, European, North American, or APAC Energy Markets.
- Knowledge of market settlement systems and meter-to-cash processes.
- Understanding of smart metering, renewable energy integration, and energy transition initiatives.
- Certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, Agile BA, or BCS Business Analysis.
