The Role
This role is central to enabling to modernise its customer and billing capabilities. By separating Charging & Billing from Salesforce and establishing it as a dedicated data product on Power Platform, this role ensures:
Greater scalability and flexibility
Improved data quality and governance
Better customer outcomes and regulatory confidence
The Power Platform Developer will play a key role in delivering Customer Excellence re-platform programme, specifically designing and building a new Charging & Billing platform on Microsoft Power Platform.
As part of the transformation:
Charging & Billing will be decoupled from Salesforce and developed as a separate data product
The platform will compute charges, tariffs, and billing outputs
Key outputs will be integrated back into Dynamics 365 (D365) to support customer journeys and reporting
This role focuses on building scalable, governed, and reliable Power Platform solutions, ensuring accurate billing, regulatory compliance, and seamless system integration.
Your responsibilities:
1. Power Platform Solution Development
Design and develop end-to-end solutions using:
o Power Apps (Model-driven and/or Canvas)
o Power Automate
o Dataverse
Build robust Charging & Billing data models within Dataverse
Implement business logic for tariffs, charging rules, and billing calculations
2. Charging & Billing Platform Build
Develop a standalone billing capability as a structured data product
Translate business requirements into technical logic and workflows
Ensure accuracy, traceability, and auditability of all billing calculations
Implement versioning of tariffs and pricing rules
3. Integration with D365 and Enterprise Systems
Build integrations to:
o Receive input data from upstream systems (e.g., D365, operational systems)
o Push calculated billing outputs back into D365
Use:
o Dataverse connectors
o APIs and custom connectors
o Azure Integration services (Logic Apps, Service Bus β where applicable)
Ensure data consistency between billing platform and CRM systems
4. Data & Platform Design
Design scalable Dataverse data models for:
o Customers
o Charges
o Tariffs
o Billing transactions
Collaborate with Data Engineers and Architects to align with enterprise data models
Support single customer view by ensuring consistency across platforms
5. Governance, Quality & Compliance
Embed data validation, controls, and error handling into solutions
Ensure compliance with:
o GDPR and data protection requirements
o Regulatory expectations (e.g., Ofgem where relevant)
Work with Data Governance teams to enforce data standards and definitions
6. Testing, Deployment & Support
Support SIT, UAT, and production releases
Perform unit testing and solution validation
Troubleshoot and resolve defects and performance issues
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
7. Collaboration & Delivery
Work closely with:
o Product owners (Customer Excellence, D365)
o Data Engineers & Data Governance specialists
o Solution architects and transformation teams
Contribute to Agile delivery (Scrum / SAFe)
Document solution design, workflows, and configurations
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
3β5 years of experience as a Power Platform Developer
Strong hands-on experience with:
o Power Apps (Model-driven preferred)
o Power Automate workflows
o Dataverse data modelling
Experience implementing business logic and rules in enterprise applications
Experience with system integrations (APIs, connectors, Azure services)
Strong understanding of:
o Data modelling and relational data structures
o Data validation and quality controls
Experience working on transformation or platform implementation projects
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
Experience with:
o Dynamics 365 (Customer Engagement / CRM)
o Charging, billing, or financial systems
Knowledge of:
o Azure services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus)
o Microsoft Purview or governance tooling
Experience in utilities, energy, or regulated environments
Understanding of data product concepts and domain-driven design
Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related discipline
Relevant certifications (desirable):
o Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate
o Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications
o Azure Fundamentals / Data certifications
Strong problem-solving and logical thinking
Attention to detail, especially in financial/billing logic
Ability to translate business rules into technical solutions
Strong collaboration across business and technical teams
Proactive and delivery-focused mindset
