The Role
We are seeking Desktop Support Engineers (SC Cleared) to support the Enterprise Laptop Hardware (ELH) Device Deployment & Distribution Programme. The role focuses on device deployment, post-build validation, end-user setup, and onsite support across Thames Water UK locations.
Your responsibilities:
1. Device Deployment & Setup
β’ Receive, record, and stage laptops at central and distribution sites
β’ Deploy OS images using SCCM Task Sequences
β’ Install and configure endpoint hardware (laptops, monitors, peripherals)
2. Post-Build Validation & Testing
β’ Perform post-build checks (boot, login, network, application access)
β’ Ensure devices meet quality standards before handover
β’ Capture test evidence using agreed checklists
3. End-User Handover & Support
β’ Conduct physical device handover using approved checklists
β’ Provide basic user guidance and onboarding support
β’ Capture user acknowledgement for audit records
4. Asset Management & Documentation
β’ Update asset tracking systems
β’ Maintain chain-of-custody records
β’ Maintain deployment logs and documentation
5. Issue Handling & Escalation
β’ Resolve basic deployment and hardware issues
β’ Escalate complex issues to SOE/Imaging SME
β’ Support defect tracking processes
6. Floor Support & Hypercare
β’ Provide floor-walking support post deployment
β’ Assist users during transition period
β’ Support Hypercare activities
7. Logistics & Site Coordination
β’ Support packaging, labelling, and device movement
β’ Coordinate with central and site teams
β’ Work across multiple UK locations
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
β’ Experience in desktop support / EUC deployment roles
β’ Hands-on laptop deployment experience
β’ Basic SCCM imaging execution knowledge
β’ Strong troubleshooting and user support skills
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
β’ Large-scale device rollout experience
β’ Experience in regulated environments
β’ Familiarity with asset management and ITSM tools
β’ Floor support / Hypercare experience
