The Role

We’re looking for a Data Management & Governance Consultant who will play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining effective data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the organization. They define data policies, standards, and procedures, and work closely with business and IT teams to manage data lifecycle, classification, and ownership. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and improving data accuracy for decision-making. Additionally, they support the implementation of data management tools and promote best practices for data governance and stewardship. -------> Please include a brief outline of the impact this role will have, including overview of customer industry and projects, access to cutting-edge technology etc. Do NOT include customer name.

Your responsibilities:

• Develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and standards

• Define and manage data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models

• Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems

• Establish processes for data classification, metadata management, and lifecycle management

• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and governance standards (e.g., GDPR)

• Collaborate with business and IT teams to align data governance with organizational goals

• Identify data-related risks and implement controls to mitigate them

• Support the implementation of data management and governance tools

• Conduct data audits, assessments, and reporting

• Promote best practices and awareness for data governance across the organization

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.

• Strong hands-on experience in data management, data governance, metadata management, data quality, or master/reference data roles

• Practical experience designing and implementing governance frameworks, stewardship models, standards, and controls in complex organisations

• Experience working directly with data quality rules, profiling, issue remediation, lineage, business glossaries, and metadata artefacts

• Familiarity with governance and data platform tooling such as Collibra, Alation, Purview, Informatica, Snowflake, Databricks, or cloud data services

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

• Good understanding of data classification, retention, privacy, and regulatory requirements including GDPR and related control obligations

• Ability to work across business and technical stakeholders, facilitate workshops, and translate governance concepts into practical delivery outcomes

• Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to produce clear artefacts, reports, and recommendations

• Consulting mindset with the ability to operate independently, manage priorities, and deliver measurable improvements in data governance maturity
