The Role

Sr Finance Business Analyst for Finance Transformation

Your responsibilities

  • Lead requirement gathering workshops and document business requirements that meet the IT team's Definition of Ready criteria.
  • Trace requirements to proposed solutions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Perform data analysis to generate insights into in-scope products and define the corresponding accounting treatments.
  • Translate and communicate business requirements to IT teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of functional and non-functional needs.
  • Support end-to-end testing of finance product sub-ledger solutions, including validation of accounting outcomes and data integrity.
  • Provide regular status updates, key risks, dependencies, and progress reports to the reporting manager and project stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve solution design, and accelerate requirement definition and delivery.
  • Collaborate and coordinate across multiple business, finance, and technology teams to drive successful project execution.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, and Technology stakeholders to ensure solutions comply with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and target-state operating models.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst on at least two Finance Sub-Ledger implementation programs within a Banking or Insurance organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in facilitating requirement gathering workshops, documenting business requirements that satisfy IT Definition of Ready standards and coordinating delivery across multiple technology teams.
  • Strong understanding of Finance operating processes, including daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Deep knowledge of Finance data models, accounting hierarchies, financial reporting structures, and data lineage.
  • Hands-on experience performing data analysis, including large-volume data validation, reconciliation, and querying using SQL or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience supporting end-to-end testing of Finance Sub-Ledger platforms, including test scenario definition, execution support, defect analysis, and business validation.
  • Proven ability to map business requirements to target-state solutions and identify gaps, dependencies, and data implications to ensure complete solution coverage.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex finance and technology concepts into business language for Finance leadership and CFO-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to articulate accounting treatments for complex financial products and validate solution outcomes against accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Experience working closely with Finance, Accounting, Technology, Data, and Architecture teams within large-scale Finance Transformation programs.
  • Experience with Finance Transformation and Sub-Ledger modernization programs involving market leading Finance platforms.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards, including IFRS 9, IFRS 15, and IFRS 17 (for insurance organizations).
  • Familiarity with UK financial services regulatory reporting requirements, including PRA and FCA reporting frameworks.
  • Experience working within UK banking, insurance, wealth management, or capital markets organizations.
  • Knowledge of financial controls, governance, reconciliations, and audit requirements within regulated financial institutions.
  • Experience supporting finance data sourcing, data lineage, data quality, and data reconciliation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and requirements management tools such as JIRA or equivalent.
  • Experience in large-scale Finance Transformation programs involving General Ledger, Sub-Ledger, Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, and Data platforms.
  • Understanding of target operating model design, process optimization, and automation within Finance functions.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent would be advantageous.
  • Strong & clear communication skills – needs to be able to articulate requirements in a way CFO stakeholders understand
