A Senior Cloud Engineer builds and operates the platforms and tooling that enable teams to develop, deploy, run and maintain the solutions consistently and efficiently. This role focuses on scalability, reliability, developer experience, and cost optimization. Responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure across enterprise environments. They lead automation, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud operations initiatives with performance and compliance standards met.
This is for one of the leading Aeroengine manufacturers in the UK supporting the Design, Engineering, Manufacturing and other Digital & IT projects to enable the current market emerging technologies in making the faster turnaround time for the production and services.
Your responsibilities:
- As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you are required to work in complex development and migration of application projects to Azure cloud.
- You will work with business analysts, application developers, architects and data stakeholders to understand the customer business cases and build Azure environment secured and scalable.
Key Accountabilities:
- Understanding the requirement and bring out highly scalable Azure solution design and delivering End-to-End Implementation working with Azure architects.
- Building and Implementation of environment setup in Azure cloud for applications, data team and DevOps.
- Understanding in the use of dockers, containers, and Kubernetes in development processes.
- Good co-ordination with Architects, App Developers, Data Engineers and POTs team for resolving infrastructure related issues.
- Implementation of Azure cloud resources with security features enabled.
- Ownership of documentation, tracking and prioritizing tasks and highlighting the foreseen blockers upfront.
- Ensure the Azure cloud environment is implemented using best practices and as per architecture governance & compliance rules.
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Degree level education in Mathematics, Computing or Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of total experience with 5+ years in Azure Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) in relation to data intensive solutions.
- Cloud Services Experience:
- Designing solutions and implementation/migration of data intensive applications to Azure Cloud.
- Design, configure and optimize data related service in Azure such as Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, Database & Batch services.
- Ability to design/implement/Troubleshoot end-to-end pipelines in Data platform for related projects.
- Configuring App gateway, IaaS, AD, Firewall & Networking in the context of PaaS.
- Implement SQL & NO SQL solutions in Azure Data platform.
- Experience in migrating data from On-prem to Cloud environment.
- Exposure to Cybersecurity standards and implementation of cloud and resource controls to meet RR standards.
- DevOps:
- Knowledge of Dev-Ops processes (including CI/CD) and Infrastructure as code is essential.
- Expert working on IaC tools such as Terraform, Biceps, ARM, PowerShell to automate deployment with Azure DevOps.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps using YAML pipelines and scripts with best practice.
- Good understanding in Git, Repos, Artifacts, Branching strategy, Conflicts, Policies, Pipelines as applied to data solutions.
- Desirable:
- Knowledge in Kubernetes, Container technologies are added advantage.
- Should be very good in troubleshooting VMs and other Azure services connectivity and firewall issues.
- Knowledge in setting up reverse proxy, traffic manager and gateway servers.
- Hands-on experience in implementing Security controls for Azure Services.
- Experience in RHEL and Ubuntu Linux.
- Experience of working in an agile environment, within a self-organizing team.
