The Role
Provide hands-on technical leadership to implement persona-driven Microsoft 365 licensing at STW, translating business requirements into scalable, automated, and governed tenant-level solutions.
Drive optimisation through integration, automation, and usage analytics while ensuring compliance, efficiency, and value realisation across the license lifecycle.
Your responsibilities:
Execute persona-driven Microsoft 365 license provisioning and configuration (E3/E5, add-ons) at tenant level
Implement group-based licensing, user segmentation, and policy controls using Azure AD / Entra ID
Design and deploy automation (PowerShell, workflows) for dynamic license assignment and optimisation
Analyse license usage, consumption trends, and feature adoption using M365 tools and Power BI
Generate actionable insights to drive cost optimisation and improve license utilisation
Integrate licensing workflows with IAM (Azure AD), ITSM (e.g., ServiceNow), and HR systems (JML processes)
Implement controls for license governance, compliance monitoring, and audit readiness
Identify and remediate anomalies (unused licenses, non-compliance, inactive users)
Support pilot rollouts, troubleshoot issues, and enable scalable enterprise-wide deployment
Collaborate with program, cloud, and security teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
Strong experience (8β12 years) in Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud environments
Expertise in Microsoft 365 licensing (E3/E5, add-ons, security & compliance licenses)
Hands-on experience with Azure AD / Entra ID (group-based licensing, identity management)
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation for administrative tasks
Experience designing and implementing automation for license lifecycle management
Strong analytical skills with experience in usage reporting (Power BI, M365 Admin Center, telemetry)
Knowledge of ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and integration with licensing workflows
Understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) and joiner/mover/leaver processes
Experience implementing governance, compliance controls, and audit-ready frameworks
Ability to translate business and persona-based requirements into scalable technical solutions
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
Experience with Software Asset Management (SAM) or FinOps frameworks for license optimisation
Exposure to persona-based design and workforce segmentation models
Understanding of UK utilities or regulated environments (e.g., water sector, Ofwat context)
Familiarity with Microsoft security and compliance tools (Defender, Purview, DLP)
Experience with large-scale Microsoft 365 tenant transformations or optimisation programs
Knowledge of cost optimisation strategies within cloud and SaaS environments
Experience integrating automation with enterprise tools and platforms
Familiarity with audit processes and regulatory compliance reporting
Exposure to change management and enterprise rollout strategies
Strong stakeholder communication skills in cross-functional and client-facing environments
