As a Lead Emission CAE Engineer, you will be responsible for vehicle‑level analysis to predict tailpipe emissions for gasoline programmes. Your role will focus on detailed aftertreatment system modelling, engine‑out emissions analysis, and virtual engineering for our vehicle and powertrain programmes.
Responsibilities
- Develop methodologies for engine‑out emission prediction.
- Create models for exhaust systems to capture altitude and off‑ambient condition impacts on tailpipe emissions.
- Support 1‑D modelling of virtual vehicle‑emission test cases to size systems, aid technology selection, and provide status updates for controls and calibration development.
- Provide problem‑solving and issue‑resolution support for vehicle emission predictions.
- Collaborate with internal suppliers of 1‑D simulation input data to ensure value‑added outputs.
- Generate steady‑state to transient emission coefficients based on test‑bed data.
- Lead identification of 1‑D powertrain systems CAE tools and/or process enhancements to meet current and future hybrid vehicle analysis needs, focusing on emissions.
Qualifications
- Expertise in aftertreatment modelling and engineering (simulation or calibration).
- Excellent understanding of engine‑out emission fundamentals and common prediction methods.
- Substantial industrial experience assessing and verifying vehicle/powertrain emissions, preferably within a CAE environment.
- Strong analytical skills and breadth of experience in GT‑Suite.
- Ability to identify and respond to the strengths and limitations of computer‑based modelling and simulation.
