Job Type: Permanent/Full-time

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (Flexible start times: 6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, 7:00 AM, 7:30 AM)
  • Friday: 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM (Flexible start times: 6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, 7:00 AM, 7:30 AM)

Salary: £14 per hour (£28,392 per annum)

Description:

Our client is committed to excellence in precision machining and engineering. We are looking for an experienced Materials Controller to join their planning and logistics department. This is a permanent position starting immediately for the successful candidate.

Main Duties:

  • Running the goods in, stores, and despatch areas efficiently to support the manufacturing process.
  • Operating mechanical handling equipment, including counterbalance forklift trucks and automatic Billet Saws, to supply materials for machining.
  • Communicating with internal and external customers and suppliers to arrange deliveries.
  • Liaising with the Planning Manager regarding despatching goods, ensuring products are well‑packed to prevent damage and uphold the company’s image.
  • Providing material availability information to support new sales orders.
  • Purchasing non‑production materials, including stationery, based on departmental demand, and serving as the point of contact for non‑production suppliers.
  • Maintaining good relationships with colleagues to foster teamwork.

Experience Required:

  • 3-4 years of experience in material handling and coordination in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous stores experience, preferably with a focus on quality control.
  • Experience in goods in, including booking in goods.
  • Forklift certification is advantageous; however, an in‑house refresher can be offered to the right candidate.
  • Experience in purchasing direct and indirect materials.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment, such as verniers and micrometres.
  • Basic PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
