Role Description
The General Laborer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Lancaster. The General Laborer will support civil engineering and construction activities, including loading and unloading materials, assisting with basic site preparation, and performing general clean-up tasks. Responsibilities include following instructions from supervisors, using basic hand tools and equipment safely, and helping skilled tradespeople as needed. The role involves maintaining a safe and organized work area, complying with health and safety regulations, and reporting any hazards or incidents promptly. The position may require working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, standing for extended periods, and working in outdoor environments.
- Familiarity with basic construction or civil engineering site practices, including safe use of hand tools and equipment (training can be provided).
- Commitment to health and safety standards, including following site rules, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and reporting hazards.
- Reliable timekeeping, strong work ethic, and ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills in English, with the ability to understand and relay information clearly to supervisors and coworkers.
- Previous experience in general labor, construction, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Willingness to undertake training and certifications relevant to site safety and equipment use (e.g., CSCS card or equivalent, if required).
