About The Payroll Assistant Role

We have an exciting role for a Payroll Assistant in our Northampton office.
Due to the growing nature of the business and the payroll division we are currently looking for a Payroll Assistant who would be a great addition to the thriving and established team.
Key responsibilities of a Payroll Administrator will include:
- organising workload to ensure timely and accurate payroll service to clients
- set up and processing payroll for a portfolio of clients for varying client types
- communicating with payroll clients
- knowledge of legislation enabling client queries to be dealt with
- liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
- processing starters and leavers
- calculating holiday pay, SMP, SSP, SPP, SHPP, Neonatal Pay etc
- submitting RTI reports to HMRC
- issuing payslips to employees and a breakdown summary to each client
- ensuring the weekly and monthly submissions of auto-enrolment pensions
- liaising with pension scheme providers to ensure all clients pension arrangements are in order
- dealing with enquires from both clients and their employees
- completing and submitting CIS returns
- other ad-hoc duties such as completing and submitting Declarations to TPR, HMRC reconciliations, Payroll Journals
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- minimum 3 years’ payroll experience, ideally within an accountancy practice / bureau
- experience of payroll systems, Paycircle would be beneficial
- skilled in Microsoft office/ Excel is essential
- CIPP qualified would be advantageous, however not essential /qualified by experience
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- strong organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- awareness of confidentiality and need for discretion
- ability to work well in a pressured and fast paced environment with tight deadlines
- experience running multiple payrolls and looking after own client base
- able to work well as part of a team as well as independently
