TC Stiles & Co are looking for a Tax Trainee to join the team in Maidenhead. With training, you will be assisting with the tax compliance on a portfolio of private clients (individuals, sole traders, partnerships and trusts), and ensuring the accurate and efficient delivery of tax compliance services.
A fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to develop your career in accountancy and tax, you will be working towards an internationally recognised tax qualification (ATT) and potentially, progressing on to CTA whilst gaining valuable on‑job experience with a highly respected accountancy firm. You will join a dynamic tax team with a high quality client base and rapidly gain responsibility whilst at the same time completing your qualifications with us.
Key responsibilities of a Tax Trainee will include:
- Completion of Self Assessment Tax Returns for individuals
- Dealing with general tax post, both from clients and HMRC
- Dealing with client queries, this may be by email/post/telephone
- Dealing with HMRC by telephone
- Dealing with tax admin including some scanning and filing, booking in information, updating workflows
- Dealing with chasing clients – for tax return information, signed tax returns, etc
- Potentially some exposure to Capital Gains Tax work
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Excellent academic record – good GCSE results, A Levels preferable
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office Products
- Good communication and written skills
- Personable and able to develop relationships
- Hands on approach with enthusiasm for continued development
- Able to work on own initiative
- Organised, able to meet deadlines and self‑reliant
- Ability to assess priorities and make decisions
- Ideally you’ll have some experience in an accountancy practice and looking to move into tax but full training will be given.
