Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week

Holiday: 22 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Accountant to join our team in the Colchester office! We are looking for candidates to start as soon as possible or after completion of exams this year.

This is a fantastic opportunity for motivated college leavers to start their career in accountancy. Joining an apprenticeship scheme, you will be working towards an internationally recognised accountancy qualification (AAT Level 3 & 4) and gaining valuable on-the-job experience with a highly respected accountancy firm. You will learn about the preparation of financial accounts, interpretation of financial data and accounting and tax legislation. Equally as importantly, you will learn how to work effectively in a team, how to build strong and lasting professional relationships and how to deliver exceptional client service, whilst at the same time completing your accounting qualification with us.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting the team with accounts preparations
  • Preparing the management accounts
  • Preparing tax computations for internal tax department review
  • Clearing tax and manager reviews
  • Assisting other trainees and accountants with queries
  • Drafting company projections
  • Liaising with clients on accounts and tax queries as required
  • Assisting with office administrative tasks

About you:

  • Minimum of Grade 6 (or equivalent) in Maths and English at GCSE
  • A level Accountancy, grade A*–C or expected
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel skills as a minimum
  • Motivated about a career in accountancy and studying for AAT
  • Highly personable with excellent communication skills
  • Organised, efficient with attention to detail
  • Able to work as part of a team and ask for help when out of depth
  • Able to demonstrate drive and initiative
