About The Audit Senior Manager Role

Due to our growth, we have a rare opportunity for an Audit Senior Manager in our Lewes office. Reporting to a Partner, you will manage a varied portfolio of senior clients across diverse sectors, including complex engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to other managers in the team as required.
  • Deliver new audit engagements that run on time and on budget, achieving the promised milestones.
  • Demonstrate leadership credentials in promoting team development and support partners with all aspects of the audit department.
  • Manage the audit process from planning through to completion, ensuring an appropriate team is assigned to each assignment.
  • Undertake non‑audit assignments, including accounts preparation under UK GAAP.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for audit engagements.
  • Utilise relevant software to streamline audit work.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge in specialist audit areas.
  • Understand the clients’ business and manage each engagement to meet client expectations and deadlines.
  • Develop and train the audit team and trainees, conducting regular 1:2:1s and appraisals, and coordinating on‑the‑job training.
  • Identify additional service needs of clients and potential cross‑selling opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and business development with new clients.
  • Share best practice and ideas for process improvement within the team.
  • Report directly to Partners on planning and progress of jobs.
  • Remain informed about legislative, technical and regulatory changes and share knowledge with the team.

About You

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • ACA / ACCA qualified.
  • Substantial recent experience in an audit capacity with advanced technical knowledge of audit and accounting standards.
  • Experience managing own portfolio or demonstrated readiness to do so.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and control environments within a finance function.
  • Experience with Sage and Xero, CCH and Caseware (advantageous).
  • Ability to travel to client sites as required.
  • Professional presentation and work ethic at all times.
  • Strong multitasking and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills.
