About the Audit & Accounts Senior role

Due to growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Audit & Accounts Senior for TC West Bristol, based at our Ashton Gate office. The role is split approximately 65/35 between audit and non-audit assignments. Reporting directly to a Partner, you will either be solely responsible for the audit work including planning and completion, or responsible for leading a small team of up to 2 on any larger audits, including assisting juniors and reviewing their work, you will be involved with a varied client base of SMEs in various industries.
Key responsibilities of an Audit & Accounts Senior will include:
- Supporting the partners with delivery of assignments through undertaking audit fieldwork both at client's premises and in the office.
- Taking responsibility for all audit fieldwork of the team.
- Preparing client deliverables (including Audit Findings Report), building relationships with the client (including their teams) and acting as an ambassador for the business.
- Planning assignments, including budgeting and use of analytical review.
- Ensuring files are complete for partner review including file completion where applicable.
- Attendance at stock takes as required.
- Supervising, delegating and reviewing work of Assistants as appropriate.
- Active involvement in the professional and personal development of more junior team members.
- Preparation of accounts (including those under FRS102 and 1A) and basic corporation tax computations.
- Identifying, researching and helping to resolve technical issues which may arise.
- Develop a strong commercial understanding of the client's businesses and any developments within it.
- Initiate and work with other service lines across the business to the benefit of the client including referring opportunities where relevant and minimising risk (to both the business and the client).
- You will be expected to attend training to further develop and maintain your technical skills.
- Working as a team and independently on the firm's larger audits for both corporate and not-for-profit clients.
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- ACA / ACCA part or fully qualified.
- Minimum of 3 years recent audit experience in an accountancy practice.
- Up to date with current auditing and accounting issues and conversant with relevant auditing and accounting standards, company law etc.
- Good corporation tax knowledge and an awareness of VAT and payroll taxes advantageous.
- Confident with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail and ability to think laterally to be capable of identifying potential problems and providing solutions.
- Show initiative, exercise judgement and take ownership of issues from start to finish.
- Experience of working on a wide range of clients.
- Computer literate including good Excel and Word experience. Working knowledge of CCH Xero and Sage would also be helpful.
- Some travel to client sites, so a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential.
