Salary – competitive depending on experience
Hours – Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week with flexible working
Holiday – 24 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) increasing by 3 days after 5 years’ service
About the Accounts and Audit Senior role

Our Rochdale office are looking for a Qualified Accountant to join the team. The role is split approximately 65/35 between accountancy and audit assignments.
You will be advising on the more complex larger accountancy jobs and managing audit assignments. This includes completion of audit tests, overseeing junior members of the team on the audit and completion and reviewing of audit work. The audit client base is varied ideally we’re looking for candidates with experience of auditing charities.
Key responsibilities of an Accounts and Audit Senior will include:
- processing accounts and audit journals and the preparation of the statutory accounts, including all notes and disclosures. User knowledge of FRS102 and FRS an advantage
- preparation of corporation tax returns including capital allowances computations.
- assist in training junior staff and providing feedback
- occasional ad hoc assistance in accounting assignments and bespoke assignments such as preparing cashflow forecasts or due diligence reports
- directly liaising with clients
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- ACA / ACCA Qualified
- previous audit experience within an accountancy practice, ideally with some charities experience
- up to date with current auditing and accounting issues and conversant with relevant auditing and accounting standards, company law etc.
- good tax knowledge, in particular corporation tax. An awareness of VAT and payroll taxes advantageous.
- confident with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
- you have developed good client liaison skills and work well as part of a team
- analytical skills and attention to detail and ability to think laterally to be capable of identifying potential problems and providing solutions
- show initiative, exercise judgement and take ownership of issues from start to finish
- experience of working on a wide range of clients (some FCA experience would be beneficial)
- computer literate including good Excel experience. A working knowledge of CCH and Pro-audit would be an advantage. Experience or knowledge of the Mercia audit methodology would also be helpful.
