We work with some of the most highly regulated and performance-critical industries in the world, including automation, aerospace, medical, and defence, to understand their requirements and engineer robust solutions that combine hardware and software.

As our newly appointed LabVIEW Systems Engineer, you will take engineering requirements from customers and design bespoke software solutions that can be delivered within time and cost constraints. This will involve interfacing with both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components as well as custom-designed interfaces, LabVIEW and other software programs. The role will involve the creation of system concepts, bespoke software and fault finding.

Role responsibilities:

  • Developing modular object-oriented drivers and libraries to complement bespoke software whilst maximizing long-term reusability.
  • Interfacing with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) instrumentation, custom in-house designed PCBs, and other programming languages/programs.
  • Taking ownership of entire software lifecycle – design, development, testing, and commissioning.
  • Interpretation of customer requirements specifications.
  • Creation of system design documentation (block diagrams, flow charts, class & data hierarchies, requirements & deliverables documentation).
  • Creation of work packages derived from system design documentation.
  • Implementation and testing of work packages.
  • Work package integration into overall software architecture.
  • Completion of software and system test plans prior to system commissioning.
  • In-house and customer-site system commissioning.

You may be required to perform any other duties and to work in any other areas as requested by the Company, if necessary, which may include other offices and those of clients.

Who we’re looking for?

  • 3+ Years Software design and development in National Instruments LabVIEW (CLD+ preferred).
  • Demonstratable experience of software design process from development through to validation – essential.
  • Team player with drive to progress to senior level – essential.
  • Experience in automated test, measurement or control – essential.

  • Creation of top-level system drawings and diagrams – essential.
  • Liaise with customers on specific project requirements – essential.
  • Produce fit for purpose software within time and project constraints – essential.
  • System integration test and fault finding including on-site works – essential.
  • Good knowledge of National Instruments LabVIEW – essential.
  • Proven track record of systems engineering – essential.
  • Ability to create high level system level designs by specifying instrumentation and sensors – essential.
  • Knowledge of GPIB, RS232, TCPIP – desirable.
  • Experience using C/C++/Python – desirable.
  • Previous experience of the aerospace and defence industry – desirable.
  • Degree, or equivalent, qualification in a related field – desirable.
  • Possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria.
  • Sociable style with good drive and dedication.
  • Good communication skills.
