Garment Technologist

At TBCo, we create easy-to-style statement pieces designed to make an impact.

As a B Corp certified brand, we believe in responsible retail, high-quality natural materials, and products that empower self-expression in both outfit and home.

As TBCo continues to grow and expand internationally, we’re looking for an experienced Garment Technologist to join our Product team and take ownership of fit, technical standards, product quality and compliance across our growing apparel offer.

The Role

Working closely with our Buyers and Designers, you’ll play a key role in taking products from development through to production, ensuring they meet TBCo’s standards for fit, quality, construction, compliance and customer experience.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working across multiple apparel categories, building strong technical processes and collaborating directly with suppliers around the world.

You’ll also play an important role in developing and maintaining TBCo’s technical standards as we continue to grow across the UK, US and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fit & Product Development
  • Lead fit sessions across apparel categories, providing clear and commercially considered technical feedback.
  • Create and maintain graded size specifications, measurement charts and grading rules.
  • Review samples, supplier measurements and fit reports, identifying and resolving issues throughout development.
  • Issue clear fit comments and manage styles through the fit approval process to Gold Seal.
  • Develop and maintain core blocks and fit standards to improve consistency across products, categories and suppliers.
  • Ensure garments achieve the intended design aesthetic while remaining technically achievable and suitable for production.
  • Advise Buyers and Designers on garment construction, finishes, manufacturing techniques and technical solutions.
  • Work with the Product team to identify opportunities to improve fit, quality and reduce product-related customer returns.
  • Tech Packs & Technical Documentation
  • Create, review and maintain accurate tech packs, garment workbooks, size specifications and technical documentation.
  • Ensure tech packs are updated throughout the development process and accurately reflect all approved fit, construction and product changes.
  • Ensure final production specifications are complete and correct before bulk production approval.
  • Maintain clear technical records and ensure suppliers are working from the latest approved information.
  • Support the development of consistent technical templates, processes and standards across the Product team.
  • Maintain technical information within relevant trackers and systems.
  • Compliance, Testing & Care Labelling
  • Take ownership of apparel product compliance requirements across TBCo's key markets, including the UK, EU and US.
  • Work with suppliers and testing partners to identify and manage appropriate product and material testing requirements.
  • Review test reports and technical documentation, escalating failures or risks and ensuring corrective actions are completed before production or shipment where required.
  • Create, review and approve care label information, including fibre composition, care instructions, country of origin, batch coding, sizing and other mandatory product information.
  • Ensure labelling requirements are appropriate for the markets in which products will be sold.
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation and support the Product team in keeping requirements up to date as the business expands internationally.
  • Work closely with Buyers and suppliers to identify compliance risks early in the product development process rather than at the point of production.
  • Support continuous improvement of TBCo's product compliance, traceability and technical processes.
  • Quality & Supplier Management
  • Work directly with global suppliers to resolve fit, construction, quality and technical issues.
  • Communicate technical requirements clearly and ensure agreed actions are implemented correctly.
  • Identify recurring quality or technical issues and work with suppliers and the wider Product team to address root causes.
  • Support the development of supplier technical standards and quality expectations.
  • Review production and quality issues where required and help implement preventative actions for future orders.
  • Help ensure products are commercially viable, production-ready and consistently meet TBCo's quality expectations.
  • We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Garment Technologist, ideally within a fashion, lifestyle or multi-category retail environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, grading, fit and manufacturing.
  • Experience working across multiple apparel categories.
  • Confident leading fit sessions and making independent technical decisions.
  • Strong experience creating and maintaining tech packs, garment workbooks, graded specifications and technical documentation.
  • Good working knowledge of apparel product compliance, testing and care labelling requirements.
  • Experience working directly with overseas suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Commercial understanding of how fit, quality and construction decisions impact cost, customer experience and returns.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple products, suppliers and critical-path deadlines simultaneously.
  • Confident challenging suppliers and internal teams constructively when technical or compliance standards are at risk.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, with experience or confidence working within ERP and PLM systems.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to identify problems, recommend solutions and improve processes.
  • Why Join Us
