The role
- Operations Management: Assist with daily activities including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping goods.
- Staff Supervision: Lead, train, motivate, and develop warehouse teams; manage scheduling and performance.
- Performance Management: Manage staff utilising key performance management methods.
- Inventory Control: Conduct stock counts, manage discrepancies, ensure accurate stock levels, and oversee proper storage.
- Health & Safety: Enforce compliance with all safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and maintain a clean, orderly warehouse.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies, implement new systems, and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Reporting: Generate reports on warehouse performance, KPIs, and stock levels for management.
- Coordination: Liaise with other departments (e. g., logistics, sales) for smooth operations.
Key skills
- Experience: Generally, 2–5 years in a fast-paced warehouse environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), courier platforms, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Licensing: valid MHE license such as Reach, Counterbalance, or Bendi.

Key Deliverables
- Deliver the highest possible standards of speed and service in a pressured and fast-moving supply chain with a complex inventory of 3K+ SKUs of Japanese food and drink
- Ensure service levels are maintained across a wide range of customer profiles including the major multiples, large restaurant chains, manufacturers, export and independents
- Ensure compliance with foods safety, HACCP and BRC standard compliance
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety rules and promoting a safe and healthy environment to achieve an excellent accident / incident rate.
- Monitor stock levels at the company and transfer stock as required from outside locations to the main warehouse so as to maximise sales
- Monitor and optimise all storage and RH&D charges incurred at outside warehouses and ensure that the company benefits from the best available market rates
- Monitor and control the level and frequency of movements of stock at outside locations and preparation of stock and transfers between warehouses, including European warehouses
- Carry out continuous reconciliations of stock held on behalf of the company at outside locations
- Monitor, action and investigate all sales and purchase goods returns and ensure safe return of appropriate stock to the correct locations
- Ensure comprehensive job training programmes are in place and machinery licenses kept up to date.
- Provide reports and data to senior management as required and continually analyse data and use it to drive forward the operation
- Ensure full staff levels and maintain staff motivation, manage shift schedules including management of the night operation
- Ensure and maintain good communication between warehouse and non-warehouse staff (sales, purchasing, technical and accounts)
- Control costs through constant pro-active management and run an efficient but cost-effective operation, ensure records are correctly entered into computer systems.
- Maintain close communication with all other departments.
