The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor oversees all aspects of the ongoing grounds maintenance, both formal and native, across the Moness Resort. You ensure that the resort brand standards are achieved daily while being respectful of both our guests and the wider environment. You use your own initiative and take responsibility for the team to ensure everything runs efficiently, is attractive, visually pleasing, and provides the best possible experience for our guests and team.

As team lead, you motivate your team to deliver outstanding performance, enhancing the natural environment and beauty of Moness. People are our priority; your expertise and knowledge of grounds maintenance contribute to the overall experience for our guests and the wider team.

You deliver first-class garden maintenance work together with your team to ensure the upkeep of the resort. This includes developing and implementing grounds maintenance requirements, conducting regular inspections to assess the health, stability, and any signs of disease or damage, ensuring the grass, trees, and plants thrive.

Liaise with Resort Management to access guest activity to avoid unnecessary disruption and maintain good productivity. In this hands-on supervisory role, you conduct pruning, trimming, and shaping to promote healthy growth and the desired aesthetics. We do the right thing and follow the correct procedures; ensure they are being followed by the team in the use of all machinery, hand tools, fertilisers, and pesticides.

Be prepared and ready to assist with hard and soft landscaping projects, including the preparation of ground, paving, simple construction, grubbing out, planting, and the installation of garden structures such as fences, trellises, and compost areas. Safely remove plants and shrubs that are diseased, damaged, or pose a risk to property or people. Respond promptly to any emergency situations such as fallen trees blocking access or posing immediate hazards; clear debris and restore access, prioritising safety.

We promote safe work practices in all areas and take reasonable steps to protect health, safety, welfare, and compliance in the gardens and garden areas. This includes the safe use of personal protective equipment, tools, machinery, and the proper disposal of chemicals, ensuring all waste is managed in accordance with Scottish Waste Regulations.

Action and maintain all garden associated RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements), COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), and MDS (Model Development Specifications). Apply treatments and medications as necessary to prevent or address diseases and pests. Develop a set of SOPs and ensure all team members understand them. Navigate mobile applications to report and record tasks.

Good written, verbal, interpersonal, and IT skills are essential, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Collect and maintain accurate records of the health and condition of the gardens, surrounding areas, and environment; maintenance activities; treatments performed; and growth patterns observed, making recommendations for appropriate interventions to the Director of Agronomy.

Utilise the Workday platform to create work schedules and record your team's activity. Ensure the emergency call-out list is up to date and maintain an inventory of all tools and equipment used, ensuring that they are in good condition, maintained, serviced, and used in accordance with safety protocols, with parts or replacements ordered as required. Report faults, defects, risks, and hazards to management.

Although the role is based at Moness Resort, there will be travel between assets. You will be required to perform tasks that require heavy lifting and physical exertion, as well as working in challenging terrain in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, and wind. You uphold our exceptional standards while demonstrating passion and flair in the pursuit of service excellence. Previous experience in a similar role or environment involving people management is essential. Experience in motivating, coaching, and supporting teams to achieve high performance is required. You should be highly motivated with a sense of pride in your work, passionate about delivering refined, personalised, anticipatory service with a vision for quality and excellence, displaying a high level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability, taking ownership and leading by example.

Excellent time-management, organisational, and problem-solving skills are necessary, with the ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and adapt accordingly to suit the profile of the business. Flexibility in approach to working hours to support operational requirements, including peak periods and emergency situations, is important.

NVQ Level 3 or above in horticultural qualification or equivalent is required, along with chainsaw certification and vocational qualifications relevant to the role, including PA1, PA2, and PA6A spraying certificates. A full UK driving license is necessary as you will be required to travel between locations.
