Full time, permanent role
We are currently offering the opportunity for a Senior Process Chemist to join a company based in Cambridgeshire which produces specialised chemicals used in various products, including medicines and electronics. This role is well suited to someone with experience supporting or working closely with chemical manufacturing operations, alongside managing or contributing to QC laboratory activities. The position would particularly suit a chemist with a background in process, production or manufacturing chemistry who is looking to take ownership of QC and quality investigations.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. Due to the remote location of the role, only applicants with a valid driving licence and car access will be considered.
The Role
- Working closely with production teams to identify root causes of quality or yield issues and implement corrective actions.
- Supporting manufacturing by investigating batch issues and quality deviations.
- Managing the daily activities of the QC laboratory, ensuring that production deadlines are met.
- Performing QC analysis using techniques including HPLC, GC, and KF.
- Training and mentorship of junior QC analysts.
- Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting β particularly with HPLC and GC.
- Managing quality documentation (e.g. CAPAs, NCRs, audits).
Current / Recent Experience Required:
- Experience working within a chemical manufacturing or production environment (essential).
- Experience investigating quality issues, process deviations or batch failures (essential).
- Experience with GMP or ISO 9001 quality systems (essential).
- Experience with training and mentoring junior staff (essential).
- A chemistry-related degree, ideally related to organic or process chemistry (desirable).
Profile Required:
- Existing UK work eligibility (essential).
- Happy to commute / relocate to Cambridgeshire (essential).
- A valid driving licence & access to a car due to the remote location of the role (essential).
