The Suite 121 Supervisor plays an integral role within our post-16 provisions in supporting both employees and young people. Responsible for developing and maintaining Suite 121, the overall focus will be on fostering a productive and harmonious work environment. This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.

This role is accountable for:

  • Ensuring own behaviour and practice always acts as a positive role model to all staff and young people.
  • Staying attuned to organisational and operational changes across TMS Post-16 provisions.
  • Participating in discussions that are focused on continuous improvements to TMS.
  • Ensuring provisions and resources are available and kept up to date.
  • The cleanliness and organisation of Suite 121.

Team Management and Leadership

  • Collaborate with management to address performance-related issues and develop appropriate action plans to improve practice.
  • Work as part of a team to provide a programme of intervention to resolve issues and propose solutions.
  • Provide day-to-day support to both Suite 121, post-16 staff and young people.
  • 1-2-1 supervisions and appraisal meetings for Suite 121 staff.
  • Review and identify existing and any new training required to ensure all Mentoring staff meet industry competency and professional requirements.
  • Manage any staff personal/performance issues or concerns.
  • Assessing and planning resources.

Young People

  • Actively involved in reviewing the needs of young people in communication with senior management and post-16 department managers.
  • Act as Deputy Safeguarding for Suite 121; reporting directly to TMS DSL.
  • Undertake meetings when required.
  • Manage Risk Assessment and Behaviour Management plans.
  • Support with due diligence.

Catering & Hospitality Training

  • Lead the day‑to‑day practical training of young people (16–24) in catering and hospitality environments, using real service scenarios.
  • Design and deliver hands‑on learning experiences that build core skills such as food preparation, hygiene, customer service, and teamwork.
  • Act as a workplace mentor and coach, supporting young people to develop confidence, independence, and employability skills.
  • Supervise young people during live catering operations, ensuring safe, professional, and high‑quality service delivery.
  • Adapt training approaches to meet individual learning needs, abilities, and behavioural support plans.
  • Provide informal assessment and feedback, tracking progress against agreed personal and vocational goals.
  • Embed industry standards and expectations (timekeeping, presentation, communication) into daily activities.
  • Work collaboratively with post‑16 staff to align training outcomes with wider development plans.
  • Support young people in reflecting on their experiences to build real‑world understanding of the hospitality sector.
  • Ensure all training activities comply with food safety, safeguarding, and health & safety requirements.

Planning and Communication

  • Manage, plan and schedule the weekly schedule and communicate relevant information to senior management / department managers.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of own workload.
  • Undertake administration necessary for effective job performance and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure that both computer and manual records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work in co‑ordination with the Head of Operations in providing contingency cover when necessary and in line with the needs of the business.

Operational Risk

  • Perform within the Company’s Health and Safety policy.
  • Take responsibility for own Health and Safety and those of colleagues.
  • Oversee unit risk assessments and implement any required mitigation.
  • Oversee incident reports, reporting to appropriate party and implementing mitigation.

Office Maintenance

  • Oversee ensuring that Suite 121 is appropriately stocked, clean and fit for purpose.
  • Undertake such other duties as might be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of the post.
