We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our Structural Team, working on major infrastructure projects. This role involves leading and managing complex structural design projects, providing technical expertise, and mentoring junior engineers. You will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and innovative solutions to the highest standards.
Duties:
- Support development, documentation and ongoing maintenance of the Quality (& Construction Assurance) Plan (supported the QCAH Manager and other team members) to meet relevant requirements (including ISO 9001) and associated procedures.
- Provide appropriate input and support for development and ongoing maintenance of other plans & procedures.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of a risk-based audit schedule.
- Support the Quality Manager and QCAH Manager to ensure a specific, relevant, and comprehensive set of subcontract requirements relevant to quality and construction assurance have been incorporated within each tender package.
- Provide appropriate and proactive support working collaboratively with the project team, suppliers and others to ensure requirements have been met and authorisation can be given for works to commence by the required date. This included development and agreement by relevant parties of suitably comprehensive Inspection & Test Plans and corresponding items (e.g. checklists).
- Work collaboratively with the Project Team, suppliers and other interested parties to maintain the system of progressive assurance for the works including benchmarking, inspection, and documentation.
- Champion implementation and enforcement of the Quality Procedures (including Quality Control system).
- Complete detailed investigations with respect to quality incidents to determine the facts and root cause(s) including issue of corresponding report and associate recommendations.
- Support the project team in dealing with external auditing governing bodies to maintain relevant certification.
- Support development and implementation of the platforms (e.g. Business Collaborator) used for day to day management of the IMS.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience in a quality control role on a major infrastructure project, preferably rail.
- In-depth knowledge of BIM, the contextual requirement for BIM Level 2 and its connection to the Government Construction Strategy and Industrial Strategy 2025.
- Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute or Institution of Civil Engineers is desirable.
