Job Role
Taylor Woodrow are recruiting for a Sector Commercial Director to lead all commercial activities across a portfolio of major infrastructure projects but typically within the energy sector. Based out of our head offices in Watford, the Sector Commercial Director will be responsible driving commercial performance through the entire project lifecycle The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of contract management.
Duties:
- Provide commercial leadership via the development and implementation of commercial strategies
- Overseeing the financial management of projects – managing budges, cash flow and financial performance of the projects
- Provide support to the projects, the sector, and the wider business through an in depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.
- Responsible for project-based commercial staff throughout the sector, including selection and recruitment strategy.
- Support the production of the Sector Business Plan and provide input to the Divisional Business Plan
- Improving areas of low performance by the implementation of suitable rectification measures, including coaching and mentoring
- Ensure that all commercial processes and procedures are implemented across all relevant projects.
- Take a key role in contract negotiations with clients and adopt a major part in achieving satisfactory outcomes and customer satisfaction
- Define accurately and concisely the commercial parameters of opportunities, ensuing they are in line with the business plan.
- Ensure procurement policy and process compliance within the region as well as compliance with supply chain strategy
- Manage, reduce and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficiencies across the sector.
- Verify and monitor the monthly site financial reporting (Project Manager Reports and Cost Value Reports).
- Monitor and ensure prompt resolution of final accounts.
Person Specification
- Excellent leadership, communication and inter personal skills
- Stong commercial and financial acumen and ability to develop and implement commercial strategies
- Detailed knowledge and experience of construction contracts (NEC, FIDIC and IchemE)
- Previous experience as a Commercial Lead working for a Tier 1 main contractor and/or a delivery consultancy
- Proven track record in building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Experience of managing commercial processes across multiple large scale infrastructure projects at any one time
