Section Engineer in Bury St Edmunds

Taylor Woodrow, as part of the Great Grid Partnership, is delivering one of the UK's most significant power infrastructure programmes.

We are looking for a Section Engineer to support the delivery of major civil engineering works across the Norwich to Tilbury project.

This is a site-based role where you will play a key part in the planning, coordination and delivery of construction activities across a range of complex infrastructure projects, including substations, overhead line works, earthworks, roads, drainage and foundations.

Working alongside experienced project teams, you will provide engineering support to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Duties

As a Section Engineer, you will

• Support the safe and successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure works.
• Undertake setting out and engineering control duties across multiple work fronts.
• Coordinate site engineering activities and provide technical support to construction teams.
• Ensure quality assurance processes, inspections and records are maintained in accordance with project requirements.
• Produce and manage engineering documentation, reports and digital records.
• Support works including earthworks, drainage, roads, structures, piling and substation infrastructure.
• Work collaboratively with Senior Engineers, Section Managers and Project Management teams to drive project delivery.
• Utilise modern construction technologies, engineering software and digital reporting systems.
• Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance on site.

Person Specification

We are looking for motivated engineering professionals who combine sound technical capability with a proactive and collaborative approach.

Essential

• Previous experience within a Site Engineer, Section Engineer or similar engineering position.
• Experience of setting out and engineering control activities.
• Experience working on civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, highways or major construction projects.
• Valid CSCS Card.
• Qualification in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• Experience of earthworks, drainage, structures, roads or foundation works.
• Knowledge of piling activities and foundation construction.
• Experience working on power, utilities or substation projects.
• Experience using CAD, GIS or digital construction management platforms.
• HSG47, First Aid, SMSTS or other relevant industry certifications.
