Job Summary
The Senior Finance Manager is a pivotal role to manage the finance personnel and function, running controlled finance processes and delivering accurate outputs in a timely manner. The Senior Finance Manager is accountable for all aspects of the Supply chain finance processes including reporting, accounting, accounts payable, receivable and payroll. Provides high quality forward looking financial information including financial forecasts, budgets and plans for the supply chain BU, cash management, credit control and accounts payable processes. The individual will have a process improvement mindset / approach.
Primary Responsibilities
- Reporting & accounting
- Manage the monthly reporting process to group reporting instructions and in line with group timetable.
- Produce timely and insightful monthly management information and KPIs for use by the supply chain management teams.
- Ensure appropriate accounting procedures are followed by business units including reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage the year end reporting and audit requirements for the business units.
- Ensure Finance Manual procedures are complied with and timely dispensation sought where appropriate.
- Business partnering
- Support the provision of quality business partnering to supply chain management through supporting FD and managing assistant finance managers.
- Preparation of quality business plans, budgets and forecasts to group timetable and instructions.
- Tax & treasury
- Manage compliance by business units for annual corporate tax packs, monthly VAT and CIS returns and PSAs.
- Prepare accurate cash flow forecasts and manage cash flow on a monthly basis in line with forecasts.
- Team management
- Manage the supply chain finance team including setting objectives, performance reviews and staff development.
- Manage the accounts receivable, payable and payroll functions.
- Risk & other
- Manage the annual insurance renewal questionnaire and other ad-hoc queries from brokers.
- Manage the risk registers and disaster recovery plans for business units.
- Liaise with internal audit and other departments as necessary to ensure adequate internal controls and procedures are in operation at business units.
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements
- Qualified Accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA.
- Considerable post-qualified experience gained from accounting & financial control roles.
- Financial accounting and leading month end close, operating in a control framework, working with external auditors, providing analysis, forecasting and planning.
- High proficiency in excel and data analysis, as well as presenting information in a clear and concise way, both verbal and written.
- Experience of managing and developing a team.
- Experience of working in a financial leadership role in supply chain and manufacturing (in housebuilding or other industry) is preferred, including an understanding of relevant software systems (ERP & WMS systems) as well as best practice Procurement strategies.
