Job Summary

The Forklift Loader Operative will support in the efficient and smooth running of factory production with particular attention being paid to quality. The main purpose of this role will be to work in a team to make sure kit is dispatched.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Forklift Operation
    • Operate a forklift truck in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and site safety rules.
    • Conduct daily pre-use checks and report any defects immediately.
    • Marshall finished goods outside into designated areas.
  • Loading Timber Frame
    • Safely lift, manoeuvre, and position timber frame panels onto trailers.
    • Ensure correct stacking and securing of loads to prevent damage during transit.
    • Use appropriate lifting techniques and equipment (e.g., straps, spacers) to maintain load stability.
  • Quality & Safety
    • Inspect timber frames for damage before loading.
    • Follow all health and safety protocols, including PPE requirements.
    • Maintain clear communication with team and drivers during loading operations.
  • Documentation
    • Complete loading checklists and delivery notes accurately.
    • Report any discrepancies or issues to the Logistics Supervisor promptly.
  • Housekeeping
    • Keep loading areas clean and free from hazards.
    • Assist with general yard duties when required.

Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements

  • Experience of working within a warehouse environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
  • Literacy and Numeracy skills.
  • Previous experience of driving MHE (Sideloader, Reach truck etc).
  • Experience in the use of basic Microsoft packages (Excel, Word etc) and WMS.
  • Well organised with the ability to meet deadlines, driven, self-starting and be able to work independently and productively.
  • Provide innovative ideas, and inputs to continually improve the processes/business.
