Job Summary

Responsible for the management and development of Taylor Wimpey’s National Housing Portfolios in line with our standard construction details library and standard specifications to meet current and future regulatory, legislative and business requirements. Please note: This role is contracted to Head Office, however can be based at any of our Taylor Wimpey Business Unit offices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage, and support the coordination and development of our working drawings, product information packages and construction details.
  • Deliver technical information in a consistent format across our product portfolios and drive the evolution of existing and development of new group product.
  • Manage and work closely with our supply chain partners and manufacturers/suppliers on design and technical development and solutions.
  • Implement and maintain a Quality Management Process to ensure information meets the high-quality expectations of our business, partners and customers.
  • Provide knowledge/expertise to react to changes in legislation as dictated by industry standards of Building Control, NHBC, planning etc.
  • Provide the business with technical and design feedback support on product, construction detailing and specifications and obtain and maintain national NHBC type approvals.
  • Manage site and manufacturer/supplier visits to review, maintain and continuously improve our product.
  • Ensure all key performance Indicator targets are reached across all areas of the department in line with business aspirations.
  • Manage and comply with the process and procedures contained within the Taylor Wimpey Operating Framework.
  • Manage and implement the Taylor Wimpey CDM/EMS process and procedure, identifying foreseeable risks in designs and taking action to remove risk, in line with company policy.
  • Manage business support systems and consultant management workflow.
  • Provide the primary communication channel between the team, other internal departments and external parties.
  • Arrange, co-ordinate and manage meetings with other departments in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring all relevant action points are noted, recorded and delivered.
  • Prepare and maintain drawing and delivery programmes and documents for the monitoring of progress and for use in reporting to the management team.
  • Liaise, negotiate and manage our internal and external stakeholders, consultants etc. to ensure our product achieves set objectives and programmes.

Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements

  • Previous Technical experience within a development organisation.
  • Solid experience (5 years minimum) in running projects from the concept stage through to completion.
  • Professional Qualification and relevant membership to a professional body (e.g. RICS, RTPI, RIBA, ICE).
  • Strong knowledge of the full development/technical process.
  • Ability to create and manage programmes.
  • Previous experience managing multiple consultants.
  • Experienced AutoCAD user.
  • Wider business breadth.
