Job Summary

Taylor Wimpey takes part in the National House-Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job scheme, where our sites are independently assessed by the NHBC across 28 different standards. We are committed to providing a safe place in which our employees and sub-contractors can work and to high standards of environmental management. Trades and labour are the backbone of our build process. We build over 15,000 homes a year and are now looking to grow our directly employed trade’s teams, so if you are looking for a career in Production then you’ll be joining a business with a passion for getting things right first time and exceeding customer expectations. We are looking for quality skilled trades people that really take pride in the work they do. As an apprentice Carpenter you will be based on the development and involved with new build homes from start to finish. You will read drawings to understand what is required to enable a build. You will learn about joisting and roofing, 1st, 2nd and Final fix. Learn to use tools of the trade and abide by the health and safety requirements in the working environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for carrying out a range of carpentry and joinery works throughout the build process.
  • Responsible for the installation of various household components, i.e. doors, frames, skirting etc.
  • Ensuring the work is completed to a high standard.
  • To attend college and complete all coursework.

Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements

  • The ability to work in a well organised and accurate way.
  • An awareness of safety issues, especially when working at height.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and with other tradespeople.
  • Knowledge of properties.
  • CSCS Card.
  • The ability to travel to college and various construction sites across the region (some of our sites are difficult to access using public transport).
