The Assistant Finance Manager is key to assisting the Senior Finance Manager in preparing the monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow Reporting) and the supplementary reporting of data and information to the Group. The role is to run controlled finance processes and deliver accurate outputs in a timely manner, and to act as a finance business partner to the Business Unit by presenting monthly financial data to the BU management team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly close process, ensuring a clean close of all sub-ledgers, interfaces, and accounting judgements, with the final results submitted into Group Finance by WD4.
  • Prepare and process month end journals.
  • Prepare and process monthly management reporting for the BU, including commentary explaining YTD and full‑year forecast variances from the budget (or forecast) for review by the SFM and FD and incorporating this analysis into the monthly BUMT Board Report.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, including entries and accounts managed by central teams (e.g. Intercompany Recharges), ensuring that items are correctly analysed and any accounting anomalies are cleared promptly, and highlight issues to the SFM during the review.
  • Account, forecast and report on cost excesses/savings.
  • Partner with BU departments to identify and achieve cost improvements.
  • Support SFM and FD in driving ERP system improvements across finance and the wider BU.
  • Contribute to the bi-annual budgeting and planning process.
  • Explain and demonstrate key budget outputs across BU departments, often to a non-financial audience.
  • Ensure Finance Manual procedures are complied with and seek timely dispensation where appropriate.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager with external and internal audit processes, as well as statutory account preparation as required.
  • Engage with the BU teams to ensure TW Group's financial policy and statutory requirements are met and complied with throughout the BU.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial information in an efficient and timely manner for the Senior Finance Manager and Finance Director.
  • Provide cover for other members of the finance team as required.
  • Other ad hoc projects, processes and procedures as required.

Qualifications

  • Part Qualified Accountant or Fully Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with prior experience as a management accountant.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and Excel (Strong preferred).
  • Previous experience using a group consolidation system.
