The department Our Residential Property department is our largest by headcount and has teams in each of our three office locations. We are proud to have a dominant market position in property and of our renowned reputation for delivering high-quality work for our clients.

The opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to kick-start their legal career in residential conveyancing while studying towards the industry-recognised Level 4 Conveyancing Technician Apprenticeship. The Apprentice will receive hands-on training and practical support from a team with a proven track record of developing junior employees at the beginning of their careers through the apprenticeship framework. The Apprentice will be allocated dedicated study time, equivalent to one day per week, to work towards their qualification. The apprenticeship typically lasts approximately two years, during which time the Apprentice will cover a wide range of conveyancing topics. Progress will be assessed through a combination of assignment-based and exam-based assessments. Subject to the Apprentice’s performance during the initial apprenticeship period, this qualification naturally leads on to the Level 6 Licensed Conveyancer Apprenticeship and ultimately qualification as a Licenced Conveyancer.

Key responsibilities Under supervision and with increased autonomy as experience grows, the role of the Apprentice will involve:

  • utilising a case management system to ensure property transactions are progressed efficiently, including entering and updating key financial information into the system
  • providing administrative support on property transactions including providing quotes to prospective clients, under supervision
  • preparing client correspondence, producing precedent letters and preparing key property forms - all to be created in draft for approval from the relevant Solicitor
  • providing progress updates to the supervising Solicitor and also to clients, agents and other third parties in the form of emails and telephone updates
  • taking ownership of document management – keeping an electronic file up to date with all relevant correspondence and emails
  • dealing with post-completion administration within required deadlines

About you To be considered for this amazing opportunity you must have:

  • three A-Levels (minimum of grade C) plus minimum of grade 6 in both English & Maths GCSE
  • a genuine interest in conveyancing law
  • excellent IT Skills
  • an extremely organised approach and be comfortable working towards tight deadlines
  • a professional and courteous telephone manner
  • a team-player mindset
