We are looking to increase our IT Team expertise by appointing an IT Business Analyst to act as a bridge between the business users and IT Team, identifying business needs and translating them into clear, actionable technical requirements. The role ensures that technology solutions align with business objectives, improve processes, and deliver measurable value.
Department: Our IT provision is central to the Firm's success in providing tools to enable our people to work in a safe and efficient IT environment. Our Head of Technical Services writes and implements the Firm's IT Strategy as well as assuming a 'hands‑on' implementation role alongside our Strategic Operations Manager and Systems Developer. Additional resource is provided through our IT outsourcing partner. There is an appetite to embrace and enhance fit‑for‑purpose technology for the benefit of our people and clients. All implementation is carried out after full project scoping, evaluation, extensive testing and strict risk mitigating protocols. After the launch of new Legal Practice Management software, the Firm is keen to capitalise on the opportunities this presents and to scope associated projects for timely implementation.
Role Overview Key responsibilities:
- Work with stakeholders to understand business objectives, problems, and opportunities
- Elicit, analyse, and document business and technical requirements
- Produce clear documentation including business cases, process maps, functional specifications, and user stories
- Translate business requirements into system and solution requirements for developers and vendors
- Support solution design by validating that proposed solutions meet business needs
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder meetings
- Assist with prioritisation of requirements and scope management
- Support testing activities (UAT), ensuring solutions meet agreed requirements
- Act as a liaison between business users, IT teams, and third‑party suppliers
- Support change management activities
- Identify process improvement opportunities and help drive continuous improvement
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to translate complex business needs into clear IT requirements. Experience with requirement gathering techniques (workshops, interviews, observation). Work to set deadlines. Process modelling (e.g. BPMN, flow diagrams). Data analysis and reporting skills. Familiarity with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, line‑of‑business apps). Knowledge of change management and business transformation.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an IT Business Analyst or similar role
- Experience working on IT projects or digital transformation initiatives
- Degree in IT, Business, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
