Taylor Stevenson are recruiting on behalf of a growing transport and logistics operation for an experienced Transport Planner to join their team in Brierley Hill. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business experiencing continued growth, with container transport being brought in-house alongside its existing refrigerated transport operation.

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner with proven container experience who can play a key role in the day-to-day planning and coordination of the transport operation. Experience within refrigerated transport would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

The Role

Working as part of a team of three and reporting directly to the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient planning and coordination of the transport operation. The business currently operates a fleet of approximately 10 articulated vehicles and is expanding its operation by bringing container trucks in-house. As a result, previous experience within container transport is essential for this position. The role will involve working closely with drivers and the wider transport team to ensure an efficient and reliable service is maintained.

  • Planning and coordinating daily transport operations
  • Managing container transport movements
  • Coordinating vehicles and drivers effectively
  • Supporting the continued growth of the container operation
  • Working closely with the Transport Manager and wider planning team
  • Responding to operational issues and providing solutions where required
  • Supporting refrigerated transport operations where necessary
  • Participating in the out-of-hours on-call rota

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in container transport planning – essential
  • Proven experience within a transport planning environment
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced transport operation
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • The ability to work as part of a small team
  • Flexibility to participate in the out-of-hours rota
  • Previous refrigerated transport experience would be advantageous

Working Pattern & On-Call

The standard working pattern is Monday to Friday, approximately 8:00am – 4:00pm, with exact hours to be confirmed. As part of the role, you will participate in a shared out-of-hours rota:

  • Weekday nights: 1 week in 3, with a £30 allowance per night, regardless of whether calls are received
  • Weekends: 1 in 3, with one full day off in lieu
