Taylor Stevenson is recruiting on behalf of a leading rail engineering business for a Stores Coordinator to join their growing team based across their Worksop and Barrow Hill depots.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with stores, warehouse or stock control experience who is looking to develop their career within the rail or engineering sector.
The Stores Coordinator plays a key role in the day-to-day management and optimisation of stores operations, ensuring accurate stock control, efficient material flow and compliance with procurement processes.
Working closely with operational teams, you will help ensure materials are available when needed while driving consistency, efficiency and continuous improvement across the stores function.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the booking-in process for all materials and equipment, ensuring accuracy, timely system updates and full traceability.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with approved suppliers, supporting procurement activities and cost-effective purchasing.
- Liaise with suppliers to manage delivery schedules and coordinate deliveries around depot operating hours.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of stock control processes across the Worksop and Barrow Hill depots.
- Assist with the reorganisation and optimisation of stores layouts and storage locations.
- Take ownership of depot consumables, ensuring stock availability while maintaining effective cost control.
- Manage the ordering, storage and distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate stock levels through effective inventory management, reducing shortages, waste and overstocking.
- Accurately process Goods Receipts and Stock Issues using the company's stock control system.
- Provide remote support to other depot locations with stock administration and goods receipt processing when required.
- Manage and maintain the segregation of client-owned (free issue) materials held within the depots.
- Work closely with depot teams to deliver an excellent internal service while ensuring procurement processes are followed.

We're looking for someone who is organised, motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities in a busy operational environment.
Essential
- Previous experience working within a stores, warehouse or stock control environment.
- Good understanding of inventory management and the importance of maintaining accurate stock records.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, including PPE and COSHH requirements.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT skills and confidence using stock management systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- A proactive approach with a focus on improving processes and efficiencies.
- Current FLT licence or willingness to undertake training.
Desirable
- Experience within the rail, engineering or manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of engineering materials and components.
- Strong technical understanding.
- Experience building relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
