An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sole Legal Counsel to join a Bank. You will be responsible for providing legal support to the business.
Key duties include:
- Assist in managing the legal risk including reviewing policies and procedures
- Advise and assist the business on mortgage documentation, new product analysis, negotiating commercial agreements, and review all legal agreements
- Advise and assist the Operations and Risk departments on restructuring strategies where appropriate
- Advise and assist the business on legal issues with respect to current and incoming legislative and banking requirements
- Advise and assist in respect of drafting, reviewing, negotiating material outsourcing contracts
- Instructing external counsel where necessary and identifying potential legal risks and assessing the issues impacting legal risk, which ensures that all of the Bank’s risk management approaches are legally viable.
- Control of legal documentation
- Providing company secretarial services to the group companies
The successful candidate will be a UK qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years PQE, including experience working in house in a bank legal department. General banking experience is essential and the ability to negotiate commercial contracts.
