A well-regarded UK law firm is seeking a Restructuring & Insolvency Associate to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners on a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious matters within a supportive and expanding practice.
The Team: The restructuring and insolvency team is part of a wider full-service commercial platform and operates across multiple offices. It is recognised for handling a diverse and high-quality caseload, advising on complex insolvency situations and corporate restructurings across a range of sectors. The team works closely with colleagues in areas such as real estate, dispute resolution and finance, enabling it to deliver coordinated advice on both transactional and contentious matters.
The Role: The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide variety of restructuring and insolvency work, supporting clients through distressed scenarios and formal insolvency processes. Work will include:
- Advising insolvency practitioners and office holders
- Supporting insolvency appointments and related procedures
- Assisting with business and asset disposals
- Handling court applications and procedural matters
- Pursuing and defending insolvency-related claims
- Advising on restructuring options, including formal plans and creditor arrangements
- Supporting lenders on security reviews and enforcement strategies
- Advising directors on duties in distressed situations
- Acting on corporate simplification exercises, including solvent restructurings
- Supporting creditor advisory work
The role offers strong exposure to both advisory and contentious matters, with the opportunity to take increasing ownership of work over time.
Key Responsibilities: The Associate will:
- Assist in delivering commercially focused advice across restructuring and insolvency matters
- Support the management of live matters, ensuring deadlines are met and work is delivered to a high standard
- Draft legal documentation and assist with court processes
- Work closely with partners, clients and other stakeholders to progress matters efficiently
- Contribute to the overall development of the team and maintain strong client service standards
About the Candidate: The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- 2–4 years’ post-qualification experience (flexibility for strong candidates)
- Experience within a restructuring and insolvency team or a role with a significant focus on this area
- Solid technical grounding and a willingness to broaden expertise across both contentious and non-contentious work
- Strong organisational and drafting skills
